Simone is a warm and empathic psychologist, committed to helping individuals live their best life. Simone’s approach is highly collaborative and she values building strong therapeutic alliances to support people in making meaningful changes in order to achieve their goals.

Simone has a vast range of experience working with people across the lifespan in community, private and hospital settings. She has worked with individuals experiencing a variety of mental health difficulties, including mood and anxiety disorders, emotion dysregulation, cancer related distress, substance use, sexuality/identity acceptance and relationship difficulties.

Get to know Simone

Simone aims to bring balance into her life through moving to music, exercising in the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Simone loves a good dance class where she can feel challenged and still enjoy the simple joy of moving to music with others. She enjoys finding pockets of calm in her week with her two gorgeous cats, a great book, connecting with nature and playing the piano and guitar

Simone developed a passion for psychology whilst working as a registered music therapist in child, adolescent and adult mental health. Alongside her music therapy work, Simone undertook a Graduate Diploma in Psychology followed by a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) with first class honours at the University of New England. She then completed the Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Technology Sydney. Simone has worked in a variety of settings including child, adolescent and family public health service, cancer care outpatient unit, acute inpatient mental health units and university clinic.

Simone utilises a variety of evidenced based psychological modalities according to individual needs and preferences, inclusive of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills (DBT) and Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT). Simone hopes to further her specialist training in DBT, Schema Therapy and Gottman Couples Therapy.

Simone is registered as a psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and is currently completing the clinical psychology registrar program. She is also an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and is eligible to provide psychological services under Medicare.

What is a Registrar?

A Registrar is a Psychologist who has completed 6 years of university training and 2 years practical experience. Subsequent to this each Registrar has to have a supervisor for 2 years in order to become a fully registered Clinical Psychologist. Simone is taking these 2 years at Equilibrium.

Availability

Simone is available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays including Early Mornings, After Hours and Online Sessions.
