Ms Gemma Mestroni
Get to know Gemma
In her down time, Gemma enjoys connecting with nature and seeking out experiences that inspire a sense of awe. She believes in taking time to create beautiful and atmospheric spaces, and living life on purpose. She loves stories, whether in a book, on a stage, on a screen, or told over dinner with friends and family. Her interest in psychology was first sparked through her work in the Australian film and television industry. She spent years working in casting helping actors to understand a character’s motivation and emotional world, and guide them to their best performance in a safe space. She later realised she wanted to take these skills and apply them to people’s real lives.
Gemma has gained clinical experience from both public and private health sectors, treating clients of all ages, from all walks of life with challenges big and small. She has completed a Bachelors of Psychological Science with first class Honours at the University of New South Wales and a Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Sydney. She utilises a number of evidence-based treatments when working with clients including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
Gemma is registered as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the EMDR Association of Australia.
