Ms Simone Mastrillo Armstrong
Get to know Simone
Simone aims to bring balance into her life through singing in a community choir, dancing, taking long walks in nature and spending time with family and friends. Simone loves a good dance class where she can feel challenged and still enjoy the simple joy of moving to music with others. She enjoys finding pockets of calm in her week with her two gorgeous cats, a great book, connecting with nature and playing the piano and guitar.
Simone developed a passion for psychology whilst working as a registered music therapist in child, adolescent and adult mental health. Alongside her music therapy work, Simone undertook a Graduate Diploma in Psychology followed by a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) with first class honours at the University of New England. She then completed the Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Technology Sydney. Simone has worked in a variety of settings including child, adolescent and family public health service, cancer care outpatient unit, acute inpatient mental health units and university clinic.
Simone utilises a variety of evidenced based psychological modalities according to individual needs and preferences, inclusive of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT).
