Get to know Laura
Outside her work as a Psychologist, Laura enjoys over-socialising with friends, spending time with her family down at Jervis Bay and trying desperately to keep her house plants alive.
Prior to joining Equilibrium, Laura has worked in a number of settings including inpatient hospital units providing group and individual treatment for PTSD/cPTSD, mood and anxiety disorders and emotion regulation difficulties. She also currently works within the bariatric psychology field, and therefore has experience in working with trauma, eating disorders, body-image and self-esteem concerns.
Laura has received training in a number of modalities and most commonly draws upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy. Laura is a registered Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and is currently completing her clinical psychology registrar program. She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
What is a Registrar?
A Registrar is a Psychologist who has completed 6 years of university training and 2 years practical experience. Subsequent to this each Registrar has to have a supervisor for 2 years in order to become a fully registered Clinical Psychologist. Laura is taking these 2 years at Equilibrium.
