Hypnosis is a tool used by therapists to increase the impact and effectiveness of therapy. Although scientists don't understand fully how Hypnosis works on the brain, putting someone in a hypnotic trance alters how the brain processes information. As such Hypnosis can allow someone to achieve things that they have struggled with or found impossible in their normal state. It is commonly thought that Hypnosis is a state of 'dissociation' which allows suggestions given by the therapist to achieve maximum behavioural change.
- Hypnosis can be used in the treatment of most concerns, however it is commonly requested for:
- Giving up smoking.
- Reducing alcohol and drug use.
- Weight loss.
- Reducing anxiety.
- Improving depression.
- Increasing self esteem.
- Improving sexual performance.
- Enhancing motivation.
